NCSA Position Notice -- Search #11008
National Center for Supercomputing Applications, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Senior Research Programmer,
Overview:
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Senior Research Programmer position available. The primary responsibilities of this position include the design, development, documentation, testing, deploying and maintaining server-side and client-side Java application for the Automated Learning Group. This position requires the ability to be creative, innovative, and work well independently and as a team player while providing enhancement and bug fixes to an existing set of applications. This position will also require the ability to communicate with researchers who have problems addressed by applications in machine learning, data mining, and visual analytics.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering field required. Alternate degree fields may be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCSA technologies). At least 8 years of Java programming experience with demonstrable ability to design and implement complex software systems. At least 2 year experience working with relational databases and tools. Preferred Experience:
Knowledge of the data mining research field. Experience with web technologies (HTTP, HTML, XHTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS). Experience with collaborative software tools. Previous experience in academic environment. Previous experience working with faculty and staff in academic setting. Software development experience with D2K (Data to Knowledge). This is an academic professional position at NCSA and is a 12-month, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. Start date will be as soon as possible after the close of the search.
