Register now for TeraGrid’s first annual conference!

Get Ready! Get Set! Let’s race over to Indy in June to explore the applications of cyberinfrastructure for advancing scientific discovery! Registration opens April 4 for TeraGrid '06: Advancing Scientific Discovery to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, June 12–15. TeraGrid '06 is a forum for individuals and institutions that use cyberinfrastructure to address the challenging computational problems facing our world such as disease diagnosis, weather forecasting, and aircraft design. Participants will include scientists, researchers, faculty, postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students, high school teachers and students, representatives from federal agencies, business and industry representatives, TeraGrid resource providers, and other interested people. Attendees will have many opportunities for networking, partnering and sharing their perspectives of how cyberinfrastructure can contribute to research and education across multiple fields. National Science Foundation (NSF) Director Dr. Arden Bement will be the conference keynote speaker. Dr. Kelvin Droegemeier, School of Meteorology and Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms at the University of Oklahoma, and Daniel Atkins, head of the newly created Office of Cyberinfrastructure, are invited keynote speakers for the TeraGrid conference. Jointly hosted by Indiana University and the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing of Purdue University, TeraGrid ‘06 will introduce TeraGrid resources and services, illustrate how to use advanced TeraGrid applications for the development of new grid computing capabilities and for research and education, and showcase real-world technology demonstrations. Attendees can participate in three separate conference tracks focusing on: • Scientific impact of cyberinfrastructure and TeraGrid; • Technology development, capabilities, and services; and • Education, outreach, and training. Tutorials will focus on the following topics: • Science Gateways • TeraGrid Institute • TeraGrid Visualization • Strategies for Integrating Cyberinfrastructure within Education • Virtual Data System • Hierarchical Data Format (HDF5) • Data Collections TeraGrid Student Contest: “The Impact of Cyberinfrastructure on Your World” TG ’06 invites high school students from across the country to showcase their skills and knowledge by describing their perspective on the impact Cyberinfrastructure will have on their world. Prizes include a trip to the TG ’06 conference in Indianapolis, Indiana; an Apple iPod; and the grand prize will be a trip to SC|06 in Tampa, Florida, in November! All entries are due by April 28. Visit the following URL for details: its Web site. TeraGrid Student Research Poster Competition Undergraduates and graduate students are invited to showcase their research and creativity by submitting a poster. Posters are invited in all research and education areas consistent with the conference theme. Two grand prizes will be an expense-paid trip SC|06 in Tampa, Florida, in November. In addition, top winners will each receive $500 toward research-related expenses. How do I register? To register for TG ’06 please visit: its Web site. Click on the “Registration and Housing” link.
