Korean Internet Data Center Operator Delivers Reliable 10 Gigabit Ethernet

Force10 Networks today announced that Korea Internet Data Center (KIDC), Korea's leading data center operator, is increasing the reliability and predictability of its managed infrastructure services with the TeraScale E-Series family of switch/routers. With industry-leading density and resiliency, the Force10 TeraScale E1200 is anchoring KIDC's 10 Gigabit Ethernet network and enabling seamless scalability as customer demand increases. "To provide businesses with the guarantees they require to confidently outsource their data centers, we need a secure and reliable high-speed network that increases the efficiency of their daily operations," said Inkyu Song, manager of the Technology Deployment Team at KIDC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dacom Corporation. "The Force10 E-Series gives us the tools we need at the core of our network to deliver reliable managed data center services to our customers." Through its extensive peering relationships, KIDC has built a network with the largest aggregate bandwidth in Korea. Leveraging that bandwidth, KIDC is building out a resilient, secure infrastructure with the Force10 TeraScale E1200 that customers can rely upon for managed colocation and server hosting services as well as content delivery, storage hosting, mobile, outsourcing and backup services. The high Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet densities of the Force10 TeraScale E-Series, combined with unmatched resiliency, enable KIDC to reduce network complexity as well as capital and operating expenses. Supporting 1,260 Gigabit and 224 Ten Gigabit Ethernet ports per system, the TeraScale E-Series provides KIDC with the capacity to expand its network without service disruption as customers demand greater bandwidth or additional servers. Additionally, with the ability to support more than one million access control lists (ACLs) without compromising performance, the TeraScale E-Series provides KIDC with a high level of security at the core of its network. "KIDC is managing the critically important assets of its customers and needs a reliable, high-performance network infrastructure that secures those assets while providing always-on access," said Mark Cooper, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Force10 Networks. "As the foundation of KIDC's network, the Force10 TeraScale delivers the combination of density, resiliency and scalability KIDC needs to provide high quality, secure services to its customers." KIDC is Korea's leading data center operator with more than 40 percent market share. In addition to its significant domestic customer base, KIDC also has a large international customer base that includes portals, online auction sites and online gaming companies. Service providers around the world rely on the Force10 TeraScale E-Series to increase the reliability and predictability of their service delivery. Service providers such as Vonage, Equinix and True have deployed the TeraScale E-Series to increase the capacity of their networks to 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Additionally, customers such as Hanaro Telecom, BIGLOBE and NTT-ME are using the Force10 TeraScale E-Series to increase the scalability of their networks to support rapid customer growth and demand for greater bandwidth.
