Paradigm Chooses Dell Supercomputing Cluster for Rapid Seismic Data Analysis

In support of Paradigm's commitment to maintaining the operational excellence of its seismic data processing center, Paradigm has invested in an efficient high-performance computing cluster of 280 Dell PowerEdge servers. As a global provider of petroleum geoscience technologies to the oil and gas exploration and production industry, Paradigm will use Dell's highly scalable, standards-based computing cluster - comprised of Dell PowerEdge 1850 servers with dual-core Intel Xeon processors - to help reduce seismic processing job completion time and increase job capacity; which is critical to rapidly identifying, modeling and analyzing oil and gas reservoirs around the world. "We chose Dell servers for our high-performance compute cluster because they can enable us to double the CPU horsepower in our compute center and reduce our power consumption, footprint and system interaction, without having to increase data center space," said Matt Brzostowski, Paradigm's vice president of Integrated Services. This cluster can enable us to deliver faster seismic data processing than would have been possible only one year ago." To facilitate integration and management of the supercomputing system, Paradigm will also use Dell Services to rack, stack and ship the cluster to the company's Houston compute center.
