Financial Industry Leaders Turn to ADC 10 Gigabit Ethernet Solution
In the financial industry, the continual need for more powerful, real-time financial information continues to drive network performance requirements. ADC announced today that one of the largest investment firms in the world and one of the largest privately owned banks in the United States have chosen ADC's TrueNet CopperTen structured cabling system as their 10 Gigabit Ethernet solution for upgrading their respective network infrastructures. Global investment firms and banks have mission-critical business applications that require the bandwidth capacity of 10 Gigabit Ethernet that can rapidly increase the performance of their networks. ADC's TrueNet CopperTen structured cabling system is designed to help enterprises in the financial industry optimize their businesses by expanding their infrastructure bandwidth and extending and enhancing the performance of their networks to support real-time, high speed, applications which require high performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet-enabled services. When a global financial brokerage and investment firm was tasked with building a new European data center in London, they turned to ADC to identify and deploy the best solution for the project. The firm's new London-based data center was needed to support not just its operations in the United Kingdom, but throughout Europe. "This global firm conducts millions of transactions electronically per day and the cost of downtime to the company could be measured in millions of dollars per minute. So, reliability is an important requirement for as is future-proofing," said Pat O'Brien, president of the Global Connectivity Solutions Business Unit for ADC. "ADC's CopperTen cabling solution complies with TIA and IEEE requirements for 10 Gig and is backed by a full warranty. Furthermore, it is standards compliant to Category 6, which means we provide tried and trusted UTP and RJ-45 technology." Another financial industry leader - one of the largest privately owned banks in the U.S. - also selected ADC's TrueNet CopperTen solution. Located in New York City in the heart of midtown Manhattan, the bank's headquarters building is 28 stories tall and contains 350,000 gross square feet. To date, ADC's TrueNet CopperTen solution has been installed on several floors of the building, including augmented Category 6 cabling for data traffic and Category 6 cabling for voice traffic. When completed, the ADC TrueNet CopperTen solution will provide the headquarters with an end-to-end, 10 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity system over copper cabling that meets the latest TIA and IEEE guidelines. "The installation of ADC's TrueNet CopperTen solution as the network infrastructure at this bank's headquarters demonstrates their commitment to new technologies that ultimately provide added value and benefit to their customers," said O'Brien. "This investment in 10 Gigabit technology for the facility's state-of-the-art headquarters is an investment in the future. With this high-performance unshielded copper cabling solution, they can increase the speed and efficiency at the headquarters' operation with a system that supports current and future bandwidth requirements for any network-intensive application." ADC's CopperTen cabling system is the world's first augmented Category 6 cabling system with the necessary characteristics to enable 10-Gigabit per second Ethernet transmission over a full 100 meters. Typical Category 6 cabling systems are hindered by the technical combination of insertion loss and alien crosstalk that greatly disrupts transmission and high-speed data communications. The CopperTen system incorporates patent-pending design and manufacturing processes that enable the products to overcome these challenges using unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable, the most prolific type of enterprise network cabling in the world. Background
