Pfizer Wins Bio-IT Best Practices Grand Prize Award

Pharsight Corporation, a leading provider of software and strategic services designed to optimize clinical drug development, announced today that Pfizer has been awarded the Bio-IT World Best Practices Grand Prize Award for Computational Biology and Informatics. Bio-IT World is a premier publication focused on delivering the latest news, analysis and information on the technology and informatics that drive innovation in the bio-IT community. Pfizer earned the award for using Pharsight's Drug Model Explorer (DMX) and for using decision-focused modeling strategies to help decide the fate of a new cardiovascular drug it was developing. DMX, developed by Pharsight, is a commercial software product that allows clinicians, biostatisticians, marketers, and other members of clinical development teams to quickly visualize the modeled efficacy, safety, and other performance attributes of a new drug versus competing therapies. The Bio-IT Grand Prize awards are intended to recognize the most outstanding efforts in bio-IT enabled research and development of therapeutics and diagnostics. The winning organizations were also recognized for the underlying business strategies that support bio-IT enabled research and development. Winners were selected by a panel of eight experts from the scientific, information technology and business communities.
