Linux Labs' New Release Beefs Up Security for Supercomputing

Linux Labs has incorporated SELinux into a new release of its latest Linux-based software for supercomputing. Linux Labs added the security enhanced Linux platform to its Nimbus cluster distribution as part of the Nimbus 4.0 release. "The compromise of a cluster resource, even at the university level, when compared to a single hacked computer, remains a far greater threat to national security, trade secrets, and the Internet at large due to the aggregated computing and network resources involved," said Stuart Trusty, CEO of Linux Labs, in a statement. The 4.0 release includes “access controls prerequisite to government and military grade security certification,” the company added. It also includes a cryptographic file system for such applications as digitally signed mail and digital encryption known as GNU Privacy Guard. Linux Labs: www.linuxlabs.com
