Leading Australian IT Solutions Provider IPEX Chooses SGI Technology
Silicon Graphics today announced that its SGI Altix 350 midrange server and SGI InfiniteStorage Shared Filesystem CXFS will serve as the foundation of new products from IPEX Information Technology Group, one of Australia's leading Information Technology (IT) solution providers. As part of a three-year OEM agreement, IPEX will license SGI technologies for use in the IPEX Cenix 350 server and IPEX CXFS filesystem. The new products will target a broad range of users in Australia's government, telecommunications, financial services, education, and retail markets. Cenix 350 servers will extend IPEX's reach into the data center, enabling mission-critical applications and databases, and addressing the needs of customers seeking to consolidate servers and applications. IPEX CXFS adds a powerful shared filesystem to the company's storage solutions, enabling no-compromise data sharing, enhanced workflow, and reduced costs in data-intensive environments. "Throughout Australia, the customer base is growing for systems and software that expand on demand to handle even the most extreme workloads," said Yaron Schwalb, technical director, IPEX, a Volante Group Limited company. "Delivering SGI's technology under the IPEX brand allows us to target that opportunity. These new products will help our customers consolidate their enterprise and workgroup IT purchases. We chose SGI as a technology partner because they are the only company that could provide genuinely differentiated technology solutions in a market crowded with commodity technology." "SGI is delighted to welcome IPEX to our growing list of OEMs," said Darren Covington, director, channels and strategic alliances, SGI. "IPEX excels at identifying and pursuing market opportunities in an industry where technology is a quickly moving target. We look forward to working closely with them as they bring SGI technologies to some entirely new user environments."
