Scali Moves Headquarters to Westborough, Massachusetts

Scali, the leader in commercial software for scaling the Linux Datacenter, today announced a transition of its legal headquarters to the United States from Oslo, Norway. The move reflects the continued growth and expanding revenues Scali sees from its global customers and partners who will benefit from an enhanced US presence. Scali's headquarters will be moved to the company's offices in Westborough, Massachusetts. Scali's existing sales operations, customer support, engineering and research and development facilities, including the Cluster Centres of Excellence established in Oslo in partnership with Dell and Novell, will continue to expand in Europe. "In the last six months, over two-thirds of our global revenues came from companies based in the US, and this is a trend we expect to continue," commented Bjorn Skare, CEO and President of Scali. "Moving our headquarters to the US while leveraging our strong technical expertise in Norway will enable us to deliver our market-leading products more effectively to a worldwide customer base. Since we opened our US office, we've seen that being closer to end users and partners has substantially paid off with increased revenues and new customers." Since Scali was formed in 1997, it has served numerous commercial and enterprise customers through its strategic partnerships with vendors such as HP, Dell, IBM, Novell, and most recently, SGI. Customers, partners, and investors are welcoming Scali's continued expansion and its move to the US. "We believe that Scali will benefit greatly by growing the company in the US and having an expanded worldwide focus," said Barry Fidelman, senior partner at Atlas Venture. "With a new US headquarters, and its well established operations in Europe, Scali is well positioned to build on its previous growth and serve an even greater customer base in the years to come." "Since investing in Scali, we've seen continual success and revenue growth through largely European operations," said Bjarne Lie, partner at Four Seasons Venture. "With this move, Scali can better leverage its recent US successes, and focus more closely on its strategic relationships with leading US companies such as HP, Dell, SGI, and IBM, all while continuing to serve its European customer base and maintaining its strong technology, support, and sales operations in Norway." Scali's focus for the immediate future is to significantly grow the business on a global basis, harnessing the opportunities rising from the strong Linux clustering market. As clustering solutions are adopted increasingly in the commercial enterprise, Scali will focus on key verticals such as oil and gas, manufacturing and life sciences. Scali is also continuing to see growth in its core sector of high performance computing.
