MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- TimesTen, Inc., a provider of infrastructure software for real-time event processing, today announced the immediate availability of TimesTen(R) version 5 for Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2 processor-based servers running the Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS operating system. Benchmarks conducted on an HP Server rx5670 with four 900MHz Itanium 2 processors running the TimesTen Real-Time Event Processing System achieved the highest ever 4-way event processing performance numbers in TimesTen's history.* For read-intensive applications like reference data matching, intelligent order routing, and subscriber policy management, this configuration completed over 180,000 read operations per second -- a 35 percent gain over the next highest 4-way result on any platform supported by TimesTen. "TimesTen's memory-optimized architecture complements Itanium 2-based servers with their 64-bit memory addressing and high CPU-to-memory bandwidth. The Itanium 2 processor design anticipated the move toward powerful yet affordable computing, with software such as TimesTen that takes advantage of the dramatic advances in processor architectures in recent years. Among the real-time markets serviced by TimesTen, capital markets firms have shown the strongest interest in migrating their trading system infrastructures to Itanium 2-based servers, such as those from HP. Faced with a significant decline in securities trading revenue, financial firms are consolidating systems and automating more of their trading operations. Intel- based servers running TimesTen have shown a 10 to 1 price/performance advantage over incumbent systems, with ample performance to power intelligent trading strategies.
