REDWOOD SHORES, CA -- Zaplet, Inc., an enterprise software and services company, today announced that George Paolini, former vice president of technology evangelism and software marketing at Sun Microsystems, has joined the company as Chief Marketing Officer. Paolini will lead Zaplet's corporate marketing, product marketing and developer relations activities, reporting to CEO Alan Baratz. "George's appointment marks an enormous milestone for Zaplet's integrated product, developer and corporate marketing strategy." During his eight-year tenure at Sun, Paolini led a number of marketing and evangelism programs that helped reposition the company as an Internet technology leader. He was responsible for transforming the Java technology into a robust platform supporting mission-critical applications in nearly 80 percent of Fortune 1000 companies. In addition, Paolini created the JavaOne Conference, the world's largest and most successful software developer conference. Through his marketing and evangelism programs, he is credited with the widespread adoption of emerging, open technologies, including the Java platform, Jini, and XML. "Zaplet appmail represents a new category of enterprise software that will revolutionize the way businesses communicate and collaborate. What Java did to advance software development, Zaplet appmail will do to advance enterprise collaboration and process enablement," said Paolini.
