Whamcloud and Penguin Computing Sign Lustre Support Agreement

Whamcloud announced world-wide Lustre support agreement with Penguin Computing, experts in integrated high performance computing (HPC) solutions. The agreement will allow a wide range of cooperation on Penguin's HPC cluster solutions and Penguin's on-demand HPC cloud service, known as Penguin Computing On-Demand (POD). Support services will begin immediately.

The University of Delaware has deployed a 50 TFLOP cluster with a Lustre storage solution from Penguin. Penguin's unique ability to provide a full range of software, hardware and integration services for building high-end clusters was a key selling point. Whamcloud will help Penguin ensure that the University of Delaware gets world-class support for their Lustre cluster filesystem.

"Our customers demand the absolute best in performance and support, and we're competitive precisely because we focus in on these two key areas. This agreement with Whamcloud allows Penguin to continue providing the very best support for our cluster customers," said Charles Wuischpard, CEO of Penguin Computing. "Whamcloud is widely acknowledged as having the best support organization for Lustre, as well as providing key stewardship for Lustre technology for the community. We look forward to working closely together."

"Penguin is unique in that they can supply a full range of HPC solutions which creates extremely valuable relationships with customers. Support requirements are very high. We are very pleased to be a part of this support solution that Penguin provides," said Brent Gorda, CEO of Whamcloud. "Lustre provides benefits for the most demanding storage environments. If you use Lustre, we're there for you."
