President John Walz to Increase Visibility at IEEE Computer Society Sponsored Conferences

President John Walz will kick off his effort to raise awareness of IEEE Computer Society offerings at sponsored conferences with a presentation this week at the High Performance Computing Architecture Conference in New Orleans.

Walz plans to deliver presentations at more than a dozen IEEE Computer Society-sponsored conferences during his term. The presentations will highlight Computer Society products and services, as well as the Technical and Conference Activities Board, which oversees IEEE Computer Society Technical Councils, Committees, and Task Forces. These groups united international networks of professionals with common interests in computer hardware, software, applications, and interdisciplinary fields.

“The Technical Councils, Committees, and Task Forces serve as the focal point for society activities within technical disciplines and directly influence standards development, conferences, publications, and educational activities,” said Walz. “Furthermore, they provide an important opportunity for member participation in the community.”

The Computer Society sponsors more than 200 conferences each year. Walz’s initiative seeks to promote the Computer Society’s value in furthering attendees’ professional and educational goals beyond the conference and its associated publication.

Walz will appear at the IEEE VLSI Test Symposium (VTS), 23-26 April; IEEE International Parallel & Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS), 18-23 May; IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN), 21-25 June; IEEE Signature Conference on Computers, Software, and Applications (COMSAC) and SAINT, 16-20 July; the International Conference on Modelling and Simulation (ICMS), 23-30 September; IEEE 15th International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages & Systems (MODELS), 1-5 October; VizWeek 14-19 October; IEEE e–Science Conference, 8-12 October; Supercomputing 2012 (SC), 10-16 November, and CloudCom, 3-6 December.
