iXsystems presented a range of new, high performance servers based on the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 family and the Intel C600 series chipset. Select models from the Orion, Gemini, Neutron, and Infiniband Series are now available with the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 family. The new processors and chipset provide greater performance density and introduce additional enterprise features.

The Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 family employs a new microarchitecture to offer up to 80% greater performance than previous-generation processors. In addition to increased memory capacity, the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 family features Intel Hyperthreading, allowing the processors to have up to 8 cores per CPU and 32 threads per two-socket motherboard. This innovative design makes servers based on the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 family well-suited for resource-intensive applications.

The Intel C600 series chipset features integrated support for PCIe 3.0 and integrated SAS, resulting in low-latency, high throughput access to data. The chipset combines Intel Trusted Execution Technology, Intel Advanced Vector Extensions, and Intel AES New Instructions to accelerate certain tasks and increase system security.

The iXR-1204+10G is the updated version of the iX-Neutron 1204-10G, and features Dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 family processors. In a single unit of rack space, it packs up to 16 processing cores, up to 768GB of RAM, and Dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports. This incredible performance density is made possible by the architecture of the Intel Xeon E5-2600 family processors, the speed of the Intel C600 chipset, and 32GB ECC DIMMs. The robust feature set of the iXR-1204+10G makes it suitable for HPC, Data Center, Virtualization, Clustering, and Cloud Computing applications.

For applications that require dense computing power and high throughput, iXsystems now offers the iXR-22x4IB, an upgrade to the iX-22x4IB. It boasts four nodes, each with dual Intel Xeon E5-2600 family processors, up to 256GB of RAM, and a 40 Gigabit Infiniband connector. Combined with Infiniband’s extremely low latency and high bandwidth, the concentrated performance and high throughput of the iXR-22x4IB make it an excellent choice for virtualization and high performance computing needs.
