Penguin Computing Reveals New Product Lineup Powered by Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 Family
Penguin Computing announced immediate availability of the company's new Intel-based product portfolio that is entirely based on the brand new Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 family. This new generation of products will offer unprecedented performance and efficiency.
The new product portfolio includes the Relion series rack-mounted servers, Icebreaker series storage solutions and Niveus series workstations. With these new products technical and scientific users will achieve a higher simulation throughput, getting more work done in less time.
Some of the performance benefits of the new processor line over the previous generation of CPUs include the following:
-- AVX instructions for higher computational throughput
-- Support for the third generation PCI-E architecture for higher I/O bandwidth
-- Level three cache of up to 20MB
-- Support for higher memory speeds
-- Additional memory controller for increased memory bandwidth
"At Penguin Computing, we always strive to provide the very latest technology in reliable systems, backed by world-class support," said Charles Wuischpard, president and CEO of Penguin Computing. "With Penguin's industry expertise and focus on providing high-quality systems and the performance and efficiency benefits of the Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 family, our new systems will be a winning platform for our customers."
“With the recent Intel upgrades to the desktop processor, Penguin’s customers are anxiously awaiting the launch of the Sandy Bridge server line-up. Unlike the early pre-GA products that some of the large national labs deployed last fall, we have a number of corporate and data center customers who will only deploy full GA product. That said, we have been testing Sandy Bridge systems for some time and offer access to these systems through our Penguin on Demand service and are very excited by the performance of these systems,” commented Wuischpard.
Through Penguin's close partnership with Intel and as one of their top five world-wide partners in the HPC space, the company has been able to extensively qualify these processors several months ahead of their official release. Penguin has also been providing early access to this new processor architecture through their public HPC cloud offering, Penguin On Demand (POD).
