QLogic 10Gb Ethernet Adapters and Converged Network Adapters Certified With Dell Force10 S-Series Switches
QLogic announced that its 8200 Series 10Gb Ethernet (10GbE) converged network adapters (CNAs) and 3200 Series 10GbE network adapters have been tested and certified as fully interoperable with Dell Force10 S-Series S4810 ultra low-latency 10/40 GbE Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches. Deployed together, QLogic 10GbE network adapters, CNAs and Dell Force10 S-Series switches provide a powerful solution that supports LAN traffic and Data Center Bridging (DCB) to enable a lossless Ethernet fabric for iSCSI storage and Network File System (NFS) traffic, simplifying network management and decreasing the amount of hardware and associated power and cooling requirements for today's data centers.
QLogic 10GbE network adapters and Dell Force10 S-Series switches provide a cohesive ecosystem that is fully compatible and interoperable with a broad range of networking and storage ecosystems. The two companies are driving next-generation server I/O virtualization with unique, flexible networking technologies including simultaneous, multiprotocol processing and Switch Independent Partitioning. QLogic 8200 Series CNAs are designed to help customers gain greater flexibility and enable them to support a lossless Ethernet fabric for predictable iSCSI storage and NFS traffic performance.
"Application performance, scalability and flexibility are critical requirements for our customers," said Amit Vashi, vice president of marketing, Host Solutions Group, QLogic. "The 8200 Series and 3200 Series are designed to excel in dense computing and high-performance virtualized environments and with our unique suite of 'Flex' technologies, these adapters deliver advanced virtualization services and best-in-class application performance, making them highly suitable for Dell Force10 S-Series deployments."
"The Dell Force10 S4810 Top-of-Rack switch, combined with QLogic 10GbE network adapters and CNAs, provides organizations with the essential tools to easily migrate to 10GbE-based data centers," said Michael O'Brien, executive director, Dell Channels and Alliances. "Both QLogic 10GbE network adapters help reduce hardware, cabling and management costs by enabling more applications and virtual machines to run on a single server to Dell's ultra-low latency 10/40 GbE switches."
Based on QLogic's 3GCNA architecture, the QLogic 8200 Series and 3200 Series network adapters mark the beginning of a new era of flexible data center technologies. With wire-speed performance, QLogic 3GCNA products are designed to address the increasingly complex requirements of virtualized data centers, cloud service providers and the converged enterprise. All of these environments require 10GbE line-rate throughput for virtualized data traffic and low CPU utilization to allow for extreme mobility of virtual machines (VMs). The QLogic 3GCNA portfolio addresses these requirements with products that are protocol- and OS-agnostic and support exabyte-level scalability.
The Switch Independent Partitioning feature of QLogic 8200 Series and 3200 Series network adapters enables each physical port to be logically divided into four logical ports with flexible allocation of 10GbE bandwidth. As a result, one network adapter is viewed by the server operating system as a flexible mix of standalone virtual adapters with the ability to allocate guaranteed bandwidth to each virtual adapter. This eliminates the cost of installing multiple, physical networking and storage adapters that are dedicated to specific server applications or other tasks.
QLogic maximizes performance for Intel Xeon processor E5-2600-based servers
Intel's new Xeon processor E5-2600 product family provides up to an 80 percent performance boost over previous generation products. QLogic Fibre Channel, 10Gb Ethernet and 10Gb converged networking adapters are designed to balance the high compute density of servers based on the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 product family by delivering enterprise I/O performance and reliability. By delivering full hardware offload, QLogic adapters provide significant performance benefits and remove the protocol processing burden from the CPU, conserving precious CPU cycles for applications and services and maximizing server virtualization ratios. Qualified and sold by all major OEMs and more than 150 certification partners, QLogic network adapters leverage the company's 15 years of enterprise experience and worldwide reach, ensuring the highest degree of product interoperability.
