Infortrend announced the addition of 6Gb/s SAS host solutions to the EonStor DS G7, the latest generation of its EonStor DS family of storage solutions. The new systems enable SMBs and enterprises to greatly enhance storage performance and scalability in Direct Attached Storage (DAS) environments, still the preferred infrastructure to access stored data for many organizations due to its satisfactory performance and easy deployment.

DAS however, has its limits, especially when it comes to meeting constantly increasing storage demands; this can in fact be a considerable challenge for DAS users who need innovative solutions to maintain their existing set-up without resorting to complex hardware configurations. The Infortrend EonStor DS G7 SAS RAID arrays are ideal for these organizations, enabling them to push performance and scalability in their DAS infrastructures to previously unattainable levels. The new systems provide throughput of up to 5,200 MB/s and support up to 400K IOPS, and users can scale them to 240 disk drives in just 30U of rack space to flexibly meet business growth. Compared to the 40U of rack space that would be required to reach 240 disk drives using traditional, non-high-density expansion enclosures, Infortrend's newest addition to its product range offers a reduction in storage footprint of up to 25 percent, simplifying datacenter infrastructure and improving total cost of ownership.

The EonStor DS G7 SAS solutions also provide excellent data protection with snapshot and volume copy/mirror features, which are available as standard to enhance cost efficiency.
