New Workstations and Deskside Supercomputers for Processor-Intensive Applications
transtec is adding KRONOS workstations and NEXXUS C deskside supercomputers from CIARA to its high-performance computing portfolio. The systems feature industrial-standard closed water cooling, allowing the KRONOS workstations to be safely overclocked and making the NEXXUS C supercomputers very quiet and suitable for deskside installation. These highly optimised solutions are ideal for customers who need powerful deskside systems for CAE simulation or CAD applications. Every system is tested by transtec experts before being shipped and can also be preconfigured to custom specifications for immediate use.
Zero-risk overclocking: KRONOS workstations
KRONOS workstations are designed to work with complex applications such as CATIA, ANSYS, ProEngineer/CREO and NCSIMUL. Based on Intel Sandy Bridge or Westmere processors, with overclocking their processing power can be significantly increased to as much as 5.2 GHz and the RAM speed can also be accelerated beyond the manufacturer's specifications. Configured for high speed, the workstations also come with an SSD hard disk, optimised for the needs of engineering and multimedia workstations, and an NVIDIA Quadro graphics card. The heat produced by overclocking is dissipated by the integrated Industrial Grade Advanced High Performance Cooling System. transtec offers the KRONOS systems as single- or dual-core models and as desktop or rackmount systems.
The quiet supercomputer under your desk: NEXXUS C
The deskside supercomputer NEXXUS C features the Intel Sandy Bridge CPU (Intel Xeon E5-2600 series) and is designed for operation outside dedicated server rooms. High-complexity applications like flow simulations, FEM simulations, CAD and renderings, which demand high processing, memory and I/O performance, run much faster with transtec's chosen NEXXUS C systems. One system can provide up to 20 processors, 120 cores, 16 GPGPUs and close to 2 TB of memory – a level of performance rarely encountered in deskside systems. The Industrial Grade Advanced High Performance Cooling System ensures quiet operation even at full load, while a sturdy backplane manages the cables and keeps them tidy. The computer can also be linked to QDR InfiniBand Interconnect.
