GammaTech Introduces Rugged U12Ci Notebook for Public Safety

GammaTech Computer Corp has added a new model to its cost-effective, high-performance rugged Durabook line. The notebook, U12Ci, quickly and easily transforms into a tablet with Ultrabook performance in a rugged platform for mission critical applications. Featuring Intel's new Ivy Bridge platform, it is designed to meet the unique needs of today's public safety professionals.

"The Durabook U12Ci's ultra-like features such as long battery life and Intel Smart Response Technology in a lightweight, rugged form factor, make an excellent combination for public safety applications where notebook performance and durability is critical," commented Jen Chen, GammaTech president. "The first rugged tablet starting at less than $1,000, the U12Ci gives public safety access to the latest technology while being sensitive to today's budgetary constraints."

Mission Critical Reliability With its rugged durability, the U12Ci stands up to the unpredictable and harsh environments seen by public safety professionals both in the field and in-vehicle. It comes standard with a 12.1" convertible TFT, LED display with resistive touch-screen. An optional digitizer is available for e-Signatures in the field, as is a sunlight-readable function for bright-light usage during the day and outdoors. Additionally, its expandable memory capability and long battery life is ideal for mission critical situations where reliability is absolutely essential.

Perfect In A Vehicle and In the Field When mounted in a public safety vehicle using the docking station (optional), the U12Ci brings all the capabilities of a desktop computer to the field. With a slim and lightweight design of only 5.5-pounds, the U12Ci is perfect for in-field applications where it can be easily carried using its built-in ergonomic handle. Then, it can quickly convert between a notebook and tablet depending on user preference.

Ultrabook Performance in a Rugged Platform The Durabook U12Ci offers Ultrabook performance in a rugged platform. It comes with a choice of processors such as Ivy Bridge-i5 / i7 and Sandy Bridge-ULV-Celeron Dual Core / i3. Also included is a Mobile Intel HM77 chipset with RAID support and Intel Smart Response Technology that delivers fast SSD-like performance at a lower cost. Two DDR3 memory slots offer a 2GB to 16GB range of memory. A high-definition stereo audio, USB 3.0 port, 1.3-megapixel web camera, and WLAN and WiFi compatibility are also included. Bluetooth is available.

When Security Matters The Durabook U12Ci includes a variety of security features to protect sensitive data on the front lines. These include BIOS administrator and Boot password control; a Kensington lock connector; TPM 1.2 data security technology; fingerprint-scanner protection; and an optional Smart Card reader slot.

Test-Proven Durability It is drop and shock resistant and tested to stringent MIL-STD-810G requirements. A unique spill-resistant design protects the Durabook U12Ci from accidental spills with a spill-resistant C-face that includes the area around the keyboard, touchpad, speakers and wireless and power switches. All input/output ports are fully dust resistant.
