Sparx Systems Unveils New Geodatabase Design Tools to Esri User Community

Leading UML tool vendor presents geodatabase design strategies for a rapidly growing geospatial sector at Esri's annual User Conference

Sparx Systems will be presenting at this year's Esri User Conference in San Diego. Ben Constable, a senior analyst at Sparx Systems, will discuss the release of a UML profile for ArcGIS that is supported by the company's flagship product, Enterprise Architect.

The profile, which supports design of geodatabases for Esri's latest ArcGIS 10 platform, was developed by Sparx Systems in collaboration with subject matter experts in the geospatial domain. Released in April this year, the profile is available in Sparx Systems' model-driven development environment, Enterprise Architect version 9.3. Sparx Systems claims that the new profile advances the way analysts and architects work to design, build and share geodatabase schemas.

Commenting on Sparx Systems' recent product launch and participation at this year's Esri User Conference, Mr. Constable said: "We're responding to a growing need within the ArcGIS and Enterprise Architect user community to bridge enterprise and geospatial information. This year we released a visual approach to designing the geodatabase within an enterprise modeling environment - helping users satisfy the design and traceability aspects of this need. The domain experts we have worked with to bring this technology to the geospatial community see this as a game changing innovation."

"Being part of the Esri User Conference provides us with an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the value of standards-based, model-driven geodatabase design. It's also an opportunity for users to learn about what is now possible for designing geodatabases and connecting GIS with enterprise. We welcome users to meet with us at our presentation during Thursday's session on Geodatabase Design Strategies, and to visit us at Booth 2100."
