UK White Rose Grid selects eXludus' MCOPt

MCOPt multi-core optimization software to improve system performance

At ISC10 in Hamburg, eXludus Technologies today announced that the White Rose Grid, based at the University of York, UK, has signed an agreement to use eXludus’ MCOPt software.

MCOPt software dramatically improves multi-core system performance by adding an innovative resource management layer to Linux systems. MCOPt delivers increased job throughput and faster response times, while preventing performance-limiting shared resource conflicts and eliminating cluster/cloud job submission latencies. Requiring zero changes to existing applications, MCOPt users are able to realize the benefits of implementation immediately.

Tests conducted by the White Rose Grid have shown that overall system throughput is enhanced when running mixed memory workloads – particularly with respect to large memory jobs when the system is under heavy load. MCOPt makes it easier for researchers to concentrate on their work without the distraction of scheduling work via batch job systems.

"MCOPt helps White Rose Grid users to collectively achieve more work, more simply, more quickly. This delivers greater benefit per unit cost which is so important now," stated Aaron Turner, White Rose Grid Technical Manager at York.

“We are extremely pleased that the White Rose Grid has selected MCOPt to improve overall system performance and to reduce the burden of optimizing system throughput,” added Dale Geldart, Chief Executive Officer, eXludus Technologies. “MCOPt helps users get results faster through more efficient use of processing capacity and prevents resource overload that may occur when many applications run concurrently on large core count systems,” Mr. Geldart concluded.
