Army awards Engility half billion to support communications

Company to provide research and development services to the Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate for trusted communications and networking technologies

Engility Holdings has announced that one of its subsidiaries has been awarded a $497 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate (S&TCD), at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

The contract was bid last year by Dynamics Research Corporation (DRC), which became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Engility on January 31, 2014. Engility through DRC is one of eight large prime contractors awarded the Technical, Administrative, and Operations Support Services (TAOSS) contract. CERDEC is the Army’s center with the mission to develop and integrate Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) technologies that enable information dominance and decisive lethality for the networked Warfighter.

Under the terms of the contract, Engility will lead a team of 21 companies that will support secure wireless military communications and network technologies, as well as provide research and development, engineering, logistics and business operations support for the S&TCD. The contract has a three-year period of performance with two option years.

“Engility and its new team members are looking forward to supporting this critical mission, which will help the Army improve and consolidate its C4ISR capabilities and systems,” said Engility President and CEO Tony Smeraglinolo. “Our innovative technical services, ranging from systems engineering to high performance computing, can boost the Army’s ability to meet increasing demands for secure communications to the tactical edge.”
