Lifeboat to Distribute Allinea's Product

Leverages Lifeboat’s U.S. and Canadian reseller network to offer customers enhanced availability and ease-of-purchase for Allinea’s DDT Debugger and OPT Optimization tools. Allinea Software, a leading provider of innovative products for large-scale scalar and parallel high performance computing applications, today announced a new agreement with international specialty software distributor Lifeboat Distribution. Under the terms of the deal, Lifeboat will now offer Allinea’s Distributed Debugging Tool (DDT) and Optimization & Profiling Tool (OPT) to its network of resellers and solutions providers across the United States and Canada. “We’re very happy to add Allinea’s DDT and OPT tools to our Application Lifecycle Management World View software ecosystem,” said Dan Jamieson, VP and General Manager of Lifeboat Distribution. “Their products are a great fit with many other products in our software tools portfolio. They are an excellent line extension for our resellers, as they help their end-user customers optimize their high performance systems and applications investments.” DDT is recognized as the industry’s most technically advanced tool for debugging parallel applications, with a graphical interface acclaimed for its ease-of-use, short learning curve and rapid ROI. Its latest version, DDT 2.3, is available for both workstations and clusters and provides maximum scalability with essential capabilities such as an at-a-glance parallel stack view for controlling thousands of processes or threads simultaneously.. OPT sets the standard in performance analysis and optimization of parallel codes for C, C++ and Fortran MPI applications. The recently-released OPT 1.4 includes a statistical process sampler, an intuitive time view of performance data metrics and also full support for the Cell processor. “We are confident that our agreement with Lifeboat will help to increase our penetration in the U.S. market significantly,” said David Maples, Vice President Sales-North America for Allinea Software. “We partnered with Lifeboat not only for their vast network of thousands of resellers and integrators across the U.S. and Canada. We also chose them because they are well-known as the distributor for specialty software in technically-advanced fields such as HPC. Now North American customers who could benefit from DDT and OPT—such as developers at labs, universities, finance, aerospace and other industries—have a fast and easy way to purchase our products.” The agreement includes the potential for co-marketing initiatives in which Allinea’s products would be packaged together and sold with other compatible products from Lifeboat’s portfolio, such as compilers. “We see our distribution agreement with Lifeboat as a vital complement to our own direct sales efforts,” said Allinea’s Maples, “and we hope to work together to recruit more resellers, which will obviously benefit both our companies.” DDT and OPT are compatible with several operating systems including AIX, Linux and Solaris on X86, X86-64, IA64, Power, Cell and UltraSPARC processors.
