SiCortex Expands European Presence with UK Reseller Agreement

Streamline Agreement Signals Continued Impressive Growth: SiCortex today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Streamline Computing, a leading provider of high performance computing (HPC) systems and software, to sell SiCortex’s family of ultra compact, high performance Linux systems in the United Kingdom. “We pride ourselves on providing our customers with the most advanced high performance computing technology,” said John Taylor, chief technology officer for Streamline. “SiCortex’s combination of dramatically reduced power usage and industry-leading performance enables us to offer a compelling alternative to our customers.” Streamline Computing is the UK's leading provider of HPC clusters and services. With specialist knowledge of operating systems (including Linux, Microsoft and Unix), end-user applications and cluster middleware, Streamline provides integrated compute, storage and visualization solutions with outstanding value for money and maximum system performance. Streamline reduces the total cost of owning an HPC capability by offering pre-qualified commodity hardware, fault-tolerant system designs, professional management tools and first-class system support. “We are seeing increasing customer acceptance of our groundbreaking approach to high performance computing as we enter new markets and expand our product line to include the SC072 and SC1458,” said SiCortex CEO Dr. John Mucci. “Working with a leading HPC provider such as Streamline is another important step in the growth of our company.” SiCortex has introduced a new concept in high performance computing, limiting power consumption and physical size to gain performance. The company has implemented a complete cluster node on a chip, including six 64-bit processors, multiple memory controllers, a high performance cluster interconnect and a PCIexpress connection to storage and internetworking. A SiCortex cluster node consumes 15 watts of power, an order of magnitude less than the 250 watts used in a conventional cluster node. SiCortex’s product line ranges from the SC072 deskside supercomputer to the SC5832, which can perform six trillion operations per second in a cabinet that is less than one-third the size of conventional clusters. “At Streamline, we recognize that low power, high performance computing systems, as developed by SiCortex, fill a growing need in the HPC space as cost and competition for power, space and cooling increases. The Sicortex platform is also an ideal solution for parallel software developers who need desktop and office-based supercomputers to ensure that their applications can scale to large numbers of processors on production systems. We are very pleased to be able to offer SiCortex's competitive solutions alongside our existing product portfolio” said Dr Richard Groves, COO at Streamline Computing. “By addressing the total cost of cluster ownership, we believe we can satisfy a growing need for more efficient high performance computing systems by offering SiCortex systems."
