OCF Appoints Lifescience and Defence Specialist Richard Trim
OCF plc, the UK’s premier High Performance Computing (HPC) integrator, has appointed IT expert Richard Trim to drive sales in the Life Sciences and Defence industries. IBM Life Sciences accredited, experienced in complex project selling into FTSE top 250 companies and with a consistent track record of exceeding sales targets, Richard will be responsible for further developing OCF’s presence in the key industries of Life Sciences and Defence. “HPC systems are becoming far more pervasive across all industries,” said Julian Fielden, Managing Director, OCF Plc. “According to IDC, in 2006 HPC systems accounted for 26 per cent of all processors sold in the server market, more than doubling the 2003 HPC share of about 12 per cent. That growth is being driven, in part, by the Defence and Life Sciences industries as they discover the competitive gains they can make by HPC-based modeling and simulation. Richard comes with a wealth of experience in the HPC industry, an existing relationship with IBM and he is well regarded throughout the industry as a professional solutions-driven sales specialist. At Compel he was responsible for developing business growth opportunities and for strengthening Compel’s relationship with key strategic partners, such as IBM, in the key sectors of Retail, Life Sciences and Geosciences. Previous to Compel, Richard was a Major Account Manager for Digital Equipment/Compaq Computer. In this role he developed the Sanger Centre at Cambridge, during the exciting times of the first mapping of the human genome, growing Compaq’s business in the account by 75 per cent year-on-year over a three year period.
