QLogic First in OpenSolaris Community with Target Mode Capabiliities
QLogic Corp., a leader in networking for storage and high performance computing (HPC), today announced the availability of the industry’s first Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBA) with target mode capabilities for the OpenSolaris Storage community. Building on the largest installed base of 2Gb and 4Gb Fibre Channel HBAs in Solaris environments, QLogic SANblade HBAs enable enterprise users to use the Solaris OS in target-mode applications, making it possible for developers to build SAN-based storage systems based on Solaris. As an active member in the OpenSolaris community and a key member of the Sun ecosystem, QLogic fully supports both initiator and target mode capabilities under OpenSolaris for its full line of SANblade Fibre Channel HBAs. 
The OpenSolaris Storage community, a Sun sponsored project, was created as a place for collaboration and conversation around OpenSolaris storage technology for developers, ISVs, and customers to leverage open source to drive innovation and new market opportunities for storage.
