TotalView Debugger Now Available on Platform OCS DVD Media Kit

Enables Accelerated Development on Large-Scale Linux Clusters: TotalView Technologies, the world’s leading provider of scalable debugging and analysis software solutions for the multi-core age, today announced that the TotalView debugger installation kit, or “roll,” for Platform Open Cluster Stack (OCS) will be available on the Platform OCS DVD HPC media kit. When customers receive the Platform Open Cluster Stack DVD they can simply visit the TotalView Technologies website and register for an evaluation license or purchase a full license for the TotalView Debugger, to help speed application development in a Linux cluster environment. TotalView’s compatibility with Platform OCS allows for the transparent integration of open source and commercial software into a single consistent cluster operating environment. As a result, TotalView is available to debug even the most complex multi-process/multi-threaded applications in Linux clusters, enabling simplified development and implementation of complex programs. Platform Computing delivers enterprise grid solutions that enable organizations to increase business performance and reduce cost, such as high-performance computing clusters that integrate the latest advancements in industry-standard servers, high-speed interconnects and leading open source and commercial software like TotalView and Platform OCS. These products help to solve many of the challenging computational tasks faced by businesses and educational and scientific communities. “The Platform Open Cluster Stack (OCS) is a modular and hybrid stack that transparently integrates open source and commercial software into a single consistent cluster operating environment,” said Simon Lonsdale, director of Strategic Alliances, Platform Computing. “What this means for our customers is that when they install their system using Platform OCS, it provides a parallel-development and cluster-aware operating environment. Customers have been requesting that TotalView be integrated to this environment and we are pleased to offer this pre-integrated solution – Clusters Made Simple.” “TotalView Technologies is proud to be working with Platform Computing to deliver this solution to HPC customers,” said Jim Chafel, vice president of Business Development at TotalView Technologies. “This integration provides a tremendous value to developers in terms of both simplifying and accelerating the software development process.” The most advanced debugger for Linux, UNIX, and Mac OS X, TotalView is the market leader in C/C++, FORTRAN, UPC, MPI/Open MP and parallel programming capabilities. TotalView enhances developer productivity by simplifying the process of debugging data-intensive, multi-process, multi-threaded, or network-distributed applications. Its advanced features, including a single view of the complete application, parallel process acquisition and control; advanced breakpoints and watchpoints; flexible display capabilities; and ability to test fixes on the fly, enable programmers and developers to shorten the development cycle for getting multi-core applications to market. TotalView scales to accommodate debugging of thousands of cores and is the only product on the market that supports mixed environments including mixed parallel paradigms (Open MP and MPI) and mixed languages (FORTRAN 90 and C++, for example) in one debugging session, and mixed versions of compilers in one session. TotalView supports over 2,500 compiler variations and countless combinations of parallel programming paradigms and compilers.
