Seasoned executive brings deep scientific and enterprise grid expertise: Open Grid Forum (OGF), the global organization leading Grid adoption, today announced it has appointed Craig Lee to the position of President effective October 1, 2007. Lee has been deeply involved in OGF since its founding (as GGF) in 1999, working to develop interoperability standards for Grids across a number of scientific and enterprise applications. "Leading OGF at this time is a tremendous opportunity. As Grid adoption broadens beyond its well established HPC base to support a variety of industry and business-critical applications, the need for interoperability is greater than ever," said Craig Lee, newly appointed President. "OGF is an organization with a rich history and strong vision for the future of Grid and distributed computing. I am looking forward to working with our community and the entire distributed computing industry to achieve extensive technological and industrial impact." We are confident that under Craig's leadership OGF will continue driving the development of grid standards, and the adoption of these, and Grid technologies in general, into science and industry." Lee is a Senior Scientist at The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, California where he has worked since 1989. He is a recognized industry leader with extensive experience in the application of grids in industry, science and government. Currently Lee supports the Enterprise Function within the OGF as the Area Director for Vendor and Software Developer Adoption. In this role, he has worked directly with providers of commercial and open source grid software to encourage adoption of OGF specifications. In addition to his work with the OGF, Lee is also involved with the Open Geospatial Consortium and the Network-Centric Operations Industrial Consortium (NCOIC). Lee has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine and an M.S. in Computer Science from Syracuse University. Lee will be delivering the keynote address at the OGF21 event being held in Seattle, WA October 15-19.
