The Big Bang in South Kensington

The Science Museum in London has unveiled its newest exhibition and it's all about the LHC and the fascinating science behind the project. It also includes a large section on the Grid.
It was opened on the 3rd of April by the Astronomer Royal Lord Martin Rees, and was attended by media, members of the team who worked on the exhibit in the museum, the science museum's director Martin Earwicker and representatives from the experiments, STFC and the Grid.
Ms Alex Tyrrell worked on the Exhibition for the Science Museum and thought doing an exhibition on particle physics was a challenge on one hand but one of the most rewarding she's worked on "In developing our exhibition, we worked with some of the scientists involved in this awe-inspiring project. Their excitement about the LHC was contagious. I hope our visitors will come away from the exhibition with the feeling that the LHC heralds a very exciting time for physics."
GridPP's Real Time Monitor features in the exhibit allowing visitors to explore the globe and see what jobs are running where in real time. David Britton GridPP's Project Manager was at the opening and was really impressed "They have represented the LHC and the Grid in a very graphic and engaging way, the amount of work the team has put in is very evident. It is also great to see tools that GridPP has developed being used in the exhibition". The exhibit is called The Big Bang and will run until the end of September in the museum's science news gallery, Antenna, and entry is free. A gallery of images from the exhibition can be seen at its Web site and the exhibition has a website at its Web site. Source: GridPP
