New Software Developers Kit From Absoft for Apple's OS X
Absoft Corporation, the leading provider of Fortran tools for Apple computers, announced at Apple's World Wide Developers Conference a new High Performance Computing Software Developers Kit (HPC SDK) for Mac OS X version 10.4 "Tiger." The HPC SDK is optimized for Power Mac G5 clusters running Apple's new 64-bit operating system. The Absoft HPC Software Developers Kit is a complete solution for software developers to compile, run, debug, and optimize high-performance applications. Just in April, Absoft also announced a similar product, the HPC SDK for Intel Xeon-based clusters, which also features Intel Fortran and C/C++ compilers. The new HPC SDK for OS X 10.4 "Tiger" includes the industry's leading software tools optimized for the Power Mac G5 and is preconfigured for the easiest possible installation. Customers can begin using the HPC SDK to leverage their existing hardware and software investments after just 3 mouse clicks. The Basic Edition for Tiger includes Fortran 95 and C/C++ compilers from Absoft, the Fx2 Fortran/C/C++ debugger, numerical libraries, and other supporting development tools. A Technology Preview of FxP, Absoft's new parallel debugger for MPI environments is also included with the SDKs for Mac OS X. The FxP parallel debugger technology preview is derived from Absoft's market-leading Fx2 scalar debugger compatible with most major Fortran and C/C++ compilers. Other HPC SDK components include Absoft's Common Installer for quick and easy installation, the Absoft Modules environment for 32-bit and 64-bit software control, Absoft's Common License Manager, pre-built MPICH2, LAM/MPI, and ScaLAPACK libraries, the IMSL Fortran Numerical Libraries from Visual Numerics, the VAST vectorization and parallelization pre-processors, and 12 months free technical support. "This new HPC SDK for Tiger was developed in response to the many requests we have received from customers who want to build and exercise Power Mac G5 clusters. Customers regularly ask for a software development solution that is easy to install, complete, powerful and flexible," said Wood Lotz, president of Absoft. "Many of our customers are scientists and engineers, not full-time programmers. They want and deserve a solution which is pre-configured and allows them to begin code development immediately. The HPC SDK provides all this and more. The tools, integration, and modules environment add value and functionality well beyond the standard components on their own, and the prices yield excellent value to customers. We are very excited to offer this new HPC SDK which fully exploits the excellent power and value of the Power Mac G5." The HPC SDK Basic Edition for OS X 10.4 "Tiger" will enter general available in the second quarter of 2005. Absoft Corporation is the single point of contact for the HPC SDK.
