PolyServe announced availability of PolyServe Matrix Server software

PolyServe, Inc. announced the availability of PolyServe Matrix Server software as a complementary storage cluster offering to HP's Unified Cluster Portfolio announced at the SC2004 Supercomputing Conference in Pittsburgh, PA. The new HP Scalable Storage Cluster, powered by PolyServe Matrix Server, is a fully integrated server, storage and software solution for cost-effective, high- performance, network-based file services in high performance computing (HPC) applications. This combination of PolyServe Matrix Server, with its advanced cluster file system (CFS) technology, and HP modular servers and storage arrays can satisfy even the most demanding computational analysis requirements, while simplifying the overall management of storage in a scale-out environment. HP direct and channel sales organizations will sell the offering with factory integration as a customer-recommended option. HP will offer four complementary HP Scalable Storage Cluster offerings with PolyServe Matrix Server shared data clustering software for Linux. Customers have the flexibility to choose the storage cluster that is sized to fit their technical computing needs. These storage solutions are based on industry- standard HP ProLiant DL380 servers, HP StorageWorks Modular Storage Array (MSA) 1000 SCSI storage, PolyServe Matrix Server software, and either Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 or Red Hat 3.0 operating systems. Customers have the option of clustering three, six, eight or 16 ProLiant servers with an equivalent number of MSA 1000 storage arrays providing up to 80 terabyes (TB) of Fibre Channel-attached storage.
