Streamline announces spin-out of Allinea Software

Streamline Computing announces plan to spin out its software arm as Allinea Software -- Allinea set to exploit Streamline's software products and to develop a complementary suite of tools for HPC - Streamline Computing Ltd, the UK's leading provider of high performance cluster supercomputers announced its plans to develop and market its software under the Allinea brand. Following the worldwide success of its first software product, the Distributed Debugging Tool (DDT), and with the continued growth of its UK-based system integration business, Streamline Computing has formed Allinea Software Ltd as a step towards the eventual de-merger of the two entities. The move will allow both Streamline and Allinea to focus on their individual lines of business, and avoid any potential conflict of interest in software dealings with Streamline's European competitors. "With the adoption of our parallel debugger growing rapidly, and with a number of other tools in development, the need for us to create a suitable vehicle for selling and marketing our software products has become evident," said Michael Rudgyard, the founder of Streamline Computing and CEO of Allinea. "Both our software development and system integration teams have grown considerably over recent years, and we have been working to reorganize the management structure within Streamline to reflect this." Streamline will continue to sell Allinea products as a primary UK reseller, much as it currently sells software tools and compilers from other third parties. "This strategic move provides an exciting opportunity for Streamline and Allinea to consolidate their businesses, and maintain the strong growth of their individual customer bases," said Richard Groves, who takes over as CEO of Streamline. "The two management teams will continue to generate and develop joint business opportunities in order to provide a complete solution to our customers." Allinea Software will be exhibiting at the Supercomputing Conference (SC2004) in Pittsburgh, USA on November 8 -11, 2004, where it will launch the most recent version of its DDT product, as well as announce an exciting new suite of interoperable software tools.
