Penguin Computing Launches Next-Generation Intel Xeon Relion Server

and cluster solutions, today announced it has expanded its Relion server product line, known for its price/performance and reliability, with new models featuring Intel Xeon processors with EM64T technology. The new Relion 1100, 1200, 2100 and 2200 servers give customers the advantage of 64-bit computing from Intel, enabling more performance-intensive pplications to manipulate larger, more complex data sets. In addition to the new processors, the Relion servers offer high-performance SATA drive technology and PCI-Express slots for high-performance I/O. The platform's compatibility with legacy 32-bit applications allows customers to deploy a 64-bit operating system, while running 32-bit applications across the entire enterprise. Intel EM64T is an extension to Intel's processors based on the IA-32 architecture. "Penguin Computing's customers are on the leading edge of high-performance computing and require the most advanced performance technologies in their server platforms," said Mark Walker, VP Product Marketing, Penguin Computing. "By incorporating Intel's EM64T technology into our Linux systems, we're able to meet our customer needs by providing them with more memory addressability and the ability to run 64 and 32-bit applications simultaneously."
