From 1980 to 1992, Pham was an engineering manager at Wang Laboratories, Inc. Pham received a B.A. and an M.S. in Computer Science/Information Systems from Boston University and is completing her M.B.A. at Pepperdine University. Ungaro joined Cray in August 2003 as Vice President responsible for sales and marketing. Over the previous 12 years he held a number of sales leadership positions at IBM, most recently as vice president, worldwide deep computing sales. "In July 2004, we announced a difficult but necessary restructuring to reshape Cray for the future," said James E. Rottsolk, Cray's Chief Executive Officer and President. "The changes we are announcing today provide us with a new executive structure with the same goal of streamlining decision-making and improving execution. Ly Pham has had a significant impact on the software development group at Cray in the seven months she has been with us, consistent with her enviable track record. "Cray has a great road map, with three products, the Cray XD1, Red Storm and the Cray X1E systems completing development, to be followed by our Rainier and Cascade programs," Rottsolk continued. "By the end of 2004, we will have products that span from the largest supercomputers in the world to the substantial midrange of the high performance market. Under our new structure, Ly will manage our internal development projects with an eye toward our customers' current and future needs. As part of her responsibilities, she will manage our new product management group and technology office." Rottsolk added, "Peter Ungaro will drive our partnerships externally with our customers, from the initial sales and marketing through ongoing service and support. Pete and Ly will work together to insure continued technology leadership and responsiveness to market requirements."
