Platform Computing Provides Access to LSF Source Code

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, PLATFORM USER SUMMIT -- Platform Computing announced it will provide access to the source code for user interface commands and the first-come-first-serve scheduler in PlatformLSF(R). This will enable customers to more easily adapt and integrate customapplications to address unique computing requirements. Platform LSF is the foundation of Platform's Enterprise Grid solution, enabling organizations to harness existing hardware resources and optimize IT performance and productivity. Platform is providing access to source code in Platform LSF's first-come-first-serve scheduler module with sample code for tuning scheduling policies, and command line and web-based graphical user interfaces, enabling organizations to customize and integrate Platform solutions to meet site- specific distributed computing requirements. Platform also endorses SOAP and XML, offers product APIs, and participates in the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA). Customers can download the source code from the Platform FTP site at ftp.platform.com://open_source/ via anonymous FTP. Organizations can contribute code by emailing Platform at opensource@platform.com. Contributions to Platform LSF source code will be made available to Platform customers and will become part of future versions of Platform LSF where there is alignment with the strategic direction of the product. Platform will continue to provide any contributions incorporated into the product from the open-source community in source form. Platform's dedicated Enterprise Grid team will continue to enhance future versions of Platform LSF through continual development and support. Platform has also created the Platform User Forum at www.platformusers.net for discussion and sharing of ideas related to distributed computing and Grid technologies.
