Research Computing Associate - Harvard University

Req ID 34583: Duties & Responsibilities Reporting jointly to the Director of Research Computing in Physical Sciences and the Manager of IT in the Physics Department, will be responsible for all research computing needs in Physics. These responsibilities include administering all departmental linux and graphics workstations, managing and building scientific software (such as Matlab, IDL, and open source software), will manage the departmental computational server. Individual will provide programming assistance and training (in C/C++/Fortran, MPI, OpenMP, FFTW,etc.) to Physics faculty and researchers in using the FAS high performance computing resources. Basic Qualifications A master's degree required with Minimum 7 years experience. Additional Qualifications Ph.D. in Physics prefered with a solid background in programming, specifically in the context of solving scientific problems. 3 years with numerical methods, parallel algorithms, MPI, Fortran and parallel software development on large scale computational resources. Experience supporting installation and administration of Unix/Linux OS-based high performance cluster systems. The ideal candidate will have an established background in a natural science field with experience developing, troubleshooting, and supporting software for scientific research.
