Xframe II Enables End Users to Achieve Line Rate Throughput and Implement End-to-End Server Virtualization: Neterion, Inc., an industry leader in the 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter market for server and storage environments, announced today at the HP Technology & Forum Expo 2007 in Las Vegas, that its Xframe II 10 GbE adapter will be available on HP Integrity and HP 9000 servers that feature the PCIX 2.0 bus. Xframe II is part of Neterion’s family of V-NIC adapters, featuring the Hyperframe suite of technologies designed to provide virtualization at the I/O level. Xframe II supports the higher speed PCI-X 2.0 bus architecture, with Double Data Rate throughput. When the adapters are used in HP servers equipped with PCI-X 2.0 slots, end users can achieve full line rate 10 GbE performance and take advantage of virtualization capabilities at the I/O, processor, hardware and software levels. “Virtualization is a key element in enabling our customers to move toward automated, 24x7 lights-out computing,” said Lorraine Bartlett, director of worldwide server marketing, Business Critical Systems, HP. “The PCI-X 2.0 support and IOV capability of Neterion’s V-NIC adapter helps HP Integrity customers simplify IT administration and fully enable server consolidation and virtualization.” Neterion has provided the first generation Xframe PCI-X 1.0 adapter to HP since January 2005. The company had to go through a rigorous process to win the new qualification and demonstrate superior technical features and performance, best-in-class quality, operational excellence and volume manufacturing capabilities. “From the outset, our Xframe V-NIC family was designed with I/O virtualization in mind in order to support the most demanding virtualization requirements of our Neterion, Inc. enterprise data center customers,” noted Dave Zabrowski, president and CEO of Neterion. “We are very pleased to be, once again, selected by HP for a line of servers that will be performing mission critical operations in data centers around the world.” Market momentum is building for 10 Gigabit Ethernet, as the eco-system is coming together. According to Seamus Crehan, director of Ethernet switch research at Dell'Oro Group, 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch port shipments exceeded 100 thousand in the fourth quarter of ’06 alone and are forecasted to reach almost 1 million ports in 2007.
