HPC/LifeSciences Program Manager - Academic Relations

The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders across Microsoft and the academic community to create and drive both targeted and broad reach programs. Necessary core competencies include: - A strong technical background in high performance computing and its application in at least one area of academic research such as climate modeling, the environment or the life sciences. - Outstanding project management skills. - Ease with public speaking to audiences both large and small. - Intellectual horsepower, deep curiosity, ability to learn and adapt, and great communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills. We seek a highly-motivated, independent thinker comfortable with multitasking among several challenging projects and who is both a team leader and member. Prior technically-focused academic relationship management or experience in an academic research environment is a plus. An advanced degree in a science-related field is required (Ph.D. preferred), plus 5-10 years of project management experience. Relocation to Redmond, WA is required, as is the ability to spend at least 20% of the time on domestic and (occasional) foreign travel.
