SPSS Inc.'s data mining workbench, Clementine(R), is a component of the Anvil Data Analysis Platform Technology (ADAPT), which was honored with the "Best of Show" award at this year's Bio-IT World Conference and Expo. ADAPT is one of several AnVil analytic solutions that enable life sciences organizations to streamline and accelerate the drug discovery and development process. In addition to Clementine, AnVil offers SPSS' LexiQuest(TM) Mine, a linguistics-based text mining product, and SPSS(R), SPSS Inc.'s statistical analysis software as part of the new partnership agreement. "AnVil develops robust analytic and visualization applications that help life sciences companies find commercially valuable information in their data," said John Hotchkiss, AnVil's chief technology officer. "The depth of SPSS analytics and strong visualization features complement our analytic offerings, enabling our clients to efficiently analyze clinical, genomic and other life sciences data." AnVil combines data mining, statistical analysis and multi-dimensional visualization methods to reveal new and useful information in its healthcare, biotechnology and health insurance clients' large, complex data sets. The company has also developed proprietary algorithms and tools that support the thorough analysis of these types of data, as well as specific capabilities in disease identification and outcome measure definitions.
