Invitation to the Symposium - Enabling Desktop Grids for e-Science and Industry

On June 26, 2009, 2pm-6pm, the Enabling Desktop Grids for e-Science and Industry Symposium will take place in Hamburg, Germany at ISC'09. The goal of the Symposium is to bring together  Grid  application users, developers and companies and discuss the possibilities of using this technology to get more computing power at reduced costs in universities and companies. Also linking different kinds of Grids, Desktop Grids, Service Grids such as EGEE and supercomputer Grids such as DEISA will be discussed. The symposium is the Third EDGeS User and Industry Forum Meeting, organised by http://EDGeS-Grid.eu .

This event is an ISC'09 satellite meeting.  The Annual International Supercomputing Conference is Europe's leading Conference and Exhibition on High Performance Computing, Networking and Storage.  The 4-day conference, held 23-26 June 2009 at the Congress Center Hamburg, will provide you with a unique platform to learn, network, do business and join the Symposium - Enabling Desktop Grids for e-Science and Industry.

Who should attend?

The Symposium is of interest for managers in both industry and academia who are interested in setting up a computational Grid to reduce costs or expand the computational resources of their organisation. Further it is of interest to application developers and users who want to get a feeling of what Desktop Grids are and can do. A third group are Grid operators who are interested in linking their Grid to other Grids.

Topics addressed at the Third EDGeS User and Industry Forum include:

About Grids and Clouds:
- Overview of Desktop Grids, Service Grids and supercomputer Grids and relation with Clouds
- Techniques to bridge between Grids: The EDGeS 3G Bridge
- Sustainable Grids including desktop Grids

Successful applications on Desktop Grids and Bridged combined Grids:
- Industrial and commercial applications
- Academic applications

In Hamburg we have been able to attract a number of renowned  speakers from over the globe, providing in-depth experience on Grids, Desktop Grids,  and HPC usage in science and industry.
