UGS PLM Solutions, Intel and HP Expand Global Teamcenter Performance
UGS PLM Solutions established the Enterprise Solution Center (ESC), located in Seattle, in 1997 to assist Boeing Aircraft Company in their far reaching deployment of Teamcenter. In 2000, UGS PLM Solutions expanded the ESC to make it accessible for all client engagements to help define and leverage client expertise for the production deployment of Teamcenter. The ESC enables the simulation of customer environments with a primary focus on the production infrastructure required to deploy Teamcenter solutions for performance, scalability and reliability. HP and Intel provided updated computing infrastructure, technology and engineering assistance for the current expansion of the Lab. These enhancements have significantly improved UGS PLM Solutions' capability to support Teamcenter deployments on the latest HP PA-RISC, Intel(R) Xeon(TM) processor and Intel(R) Itanium(R) 2-based server platforms. "HP and Intel's pro-active involvement with UGS PLM Solutions in the definition of testing, analysis of results and optimization make this ESC expansion unique," said Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president of PLM Products, UGS PLM Solutions. "With the best available price/performance server and workstation technologies and engineering expertise from HP and Intel, the ESC consulting engagements can now provide our customers with their greatest opportunity to realize the combined benefit of UGS PLM Solutions' latest PLM software running on the best commercially available infrastructures." "HP is pleased to continue our close working relationship with UGS PLM Solutions and Intel in providing additional value to our customers," said Bruce Toal, Director of Marketing and Solutions for High Performance Technical Computing at HP. "Providing appropriate information on the proper sizing of HP infrastructure solutions, helps our customers select optimal configurations in order to realize the best total cost of ownership. This is another proof point of the customer commitment that drives our joint partnership." "The Enterprise Solution Center is a great resource providing customers with a higher level of confidence that their planned deployments meet or exceed their expectations," said John Davies, vice president sales and marketing, and director solutions market development group at Intel. "With that support and Teamcenter running on Intel architecture-based servers providing leadership performance, scalability and price/performance, the enterprises have ideal prerequisites to deploy their product lifecycle management solutions on Intel." The ESC is chartered with helping UGS PLM Solutions Teamcenter customers understand how the technology can work most optimally in their environments. The typical areas of concern include definition of clients' multi-tiered deployment architectures, hardware identification and sizing, networking requirements, physical database architecture, use of physical storage and tuning factors influencing the reliability, performance and scalability of production deployments of Teamcenter solutions. UGS PLM Solutions provides comprehensive consulting services, including access to the Lab's computing infrastructure by experienced UGS PLM Solutions personnel to ensure the facility is fully leveraged by all customers. The customer consulting services available from the UGS PLM Solutions' ESC are listed below: -- Pre-sales platform and architecture consulting. -- Post-sales, pre-deployment consulting to ensure the successful deployment of Teamcenter solutions in the customer's production environment. -- Post-deployment audits to help customers fine-tune their systems based on several important factors, including their actual production usage patterns, UGS PLM Solutions recommended practices, Lab directed research of customer specific issues, consulting with appropriate vendors and UGS PLM Solutions' expert knowledge based on experience with more than 70 major companies.
