The MathWorks Hosts International Automotive Conference

The opening day Symposium commences with a keynote address, "Modeling and Simulation of Automotive Systems" by Dr. Andrew Frank, Professor, Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering, and Director, Hybrid-Electric Vehicle Center at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Frank's presentation builds on the theme of the conference, automotive systems analysis and development, by highlighting modeling and simulation trends in automotive applications. As part of this year's IAC event, FutureTruck student teams from UC Davis and Cornell will be on hand to discuss how they leveraged The MathWorks donated tools for use in re-engineering a sport utility vehicle for greater fuel efficiency. As a long-standing supporter of the FutureTruck competition, The MathWorks established a special modeling and simulation award, which recognizes teams for their ability to develop MATLAB and Simulink models of engine, motor, transmission, controllers and other subsystems that result in a more energy-efficient vehicle. The IAC concludes with a two-day invitation only leadership conference that assembles MathWorks developers and customers to share common experiences and insight and to provide feedback that will influence the Company's future product releases for automotive engineering. For nearly 15 years, the world's leading automotive companies have leveraged MATLAB, Simulink and Stateflow to solve design challenges in the areas of engineering analysis, modeling and simulation, rapid prototyping, automatic code generation, and system verification and validation.
