These switches are the first in the PowerConnect product line to incorporate enterprise-class features such as multi-layer quality of service and advanced management. They also support a variety of standards-based switching capabilities that ensure flexibility in optimizing overall network performance. The Dell PowerConnect 3248, a 48-port Fast Ethernet switch with a maximum switching capacity of 13.6 Gbps, is priced at $1,499. The PowerConnect 5224, a 24-port Gigabit Ethernet switch with a maximum switching capacity of 48 Gbps, is priced at $2,499. With today's announcement, Dell now offers five managed and four unmanaged switches to meet the networking needs of small- and medium-size businesses and provide edge-connectivity for large corporations.
