DataSynapse survey reveals high-performance computing as biggest IT initiative

Other findings include integration with existing architecture as the biggest challenge related to Cloud Computing, citing scalability as the second biggest obstacle. The survey also revealed that 91 percent of respondents cited four key areas that would be the most helpful with their IT processes: the ability to tie business metrics to services; policy-driven server provisioning capabilities; dashboards and real-time reporting; and the ability to dynamically scale applications to meet peak service levels. “The results of our survey clearly point out trends in the market we were seeing across our customer base,” said Joseph Schwartz, CMO of DataSynapse. “Today’s data center needs to always be responsive to business demands, and as this survey indicates, senior IT people are becoming more aware of the business strategies needed to make this happen.” Other key findings within the survey include:
  • 42 percent of respondents view cost reduction as the primary motivation in choosing a data center technology
  • 53 percent of respondents take at least 2-6 months to deploy applications across the enterprise
  • 25 percent of respondents feel the biggest issue with data center operations is aligning IT with business objectives
