Compuware and Collation Partner for Configuration Management

Compuware Corporation and Collation, Inc. together announced today that the companies will partner to provide configuration management capabilities to Compuware's application service management customers. As part of this partnership, Collation will interface Confignia with Compuware Vantage, creating a complete solution for monitoring the end-to-end behavior of business-critical applications and their supporting IT infrastructures. This combined solution paves the way for shorter problem resolution times and higher availability. Development is already underway for the solution. "Technology problem resolution and application downtime cost businesses tremendous amounts of money. We are pleased to meet the strong demand from our customers to address these critical issues by partnering with Collation to establish clear visibility into the interdependencies of all applications and their supporting IT infrastructures," said Tommi White, COO, Compuware Corporation. "This partnership further delivers on our mission to help IT ensure responsiveness to end-users, manage infrastructure costs and ultimately allow successful delivery of reliable, high-performing applications that serve the core needs of the business." IT organizations have increasingly become aware of the need to track the relationships between application and infrastructure components. Interest in best practices such as ITIL, in which configuration management is a core capability, have also become a key consideration for IT organizations. Combined with the growing complexity of modern applications, this has resulted in the need for a solution that can deliver cross-tier dependency maps with powerful visualization and analytic tools. Collation's mapping technology is able to collect these dependency maps across the most complicated data centers. Using a virtual application topology architecture, the Compuware Vantage solution will be able to retrieve application dependency mapping information directly from the Confignia CMDB for use in Compuware Vantage's advanced performance analytics. "IT professionals across data centers today are facing a no-win situation. The inherent complexity of the applications that they are managing and the rate of change in these applications and the infrastructures supporting them have created enormous chaos," said Dennis Drogseth, Vice President, Enterprise Management Associates. "Managing this chaos necessitates a more methodical approach to understanding applications, their dependencies on each other and their reliance on the underlying IT infrastructure. The Collation and Compuware partnership represents the type of integration needed in the next generation of data centers." "This partnership reflects our continued commitment to delivering the most complete and open configuration management and application mapping solutions to the market," said Robert Roblin, CEO of Collation. "We are honored to be chosen by Compuware as a partner in this tremendously fast-moving market. By combining Compuware's stellar customer base and its unparalleled breadth of application management products with Collation's robust, heterogeneous and cross-tier coverage, we can deliver real value to the world's most demanding data center customers."
