Concurrent to Supply Baseline 7.1 SMP Modules for Aegis Program

ATLANTA, GA -- Concurrent Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:CCUR), Real-Time Division, today announced that the company has been qualified by Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems as a source of supply for Baseline 7 Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) modules for the U.S. Navy Aegis Production Program. The purchase orders total $3.2 million from Lockheed Martin as part of the production of four Aegis Weapon Systems. The Aegis Weapon System is designed, produced, and integrated by Lockheed Martin NE&SS - Surface Systems, based in Moorestown, N.J. The heart of the system, SPY-1, is an advanced, automatic detect and track, multi-function phased array radar. SPY-1 is able to perform search, track, and missile guidance functions simultaneously with a large capacity to track numerous targets from the wave tops to the exo-atmosphere. The Aegis Combat System is currently in 61 of the U.S. Navy's cruisers and destroyers and is planned for more than 25 additional destroyers. Aegis Baseline 7 Phase I computing equipment is based on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) processors and introduces a commercial real-time computing infrastructure, modernizing and improving performance beyond the processing technology used in prior ships. The Baseline provides a computing architecture that supports multiple critical warfare missions, including Anti-Air Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare, and Strike Warfare. Concurrent's SMP computer system provides technologically current, COTS modules with significantly improved capabilities to support Aegis operators in managing the Navy's continuing increase in Aegis Weapon System capabilities. The new Aegis Baseline 7 Phase I qualification allows Concurrent systems to be installed in the U.S. Navy's most modern surface combatants. In qualifying to supply shipboard-based systems in addition to land/shore-based operations, Concurrent was required to meet the highest caliber quality and reliability assurance, training, and support standards. Meeting these stringent requirements, both on the manufacturing floor and in training and support of the systems is testament to Concurrent's continued legacy of superior technology in mission-critical applications. "For over 35 years Concurrent has met the defense industry's most challenging real-time needs," said Paul Meyer, president Real-Time Division, Concurrent Computer Corporation. "Completing this qualification for the critical applications of the Aegis Weapon System is the result of maintaining incomparable quality and reliability in the real-time market." He continued, "By qualifying for supplying and supporting shipboard-based systems, Concurrent was able to win this notable $3.2 million contract and to continue to support the `Shield of the Fleet.' We look forward to expanding our extremely important relationship with Lockheed Martin." "By continuing and growing our long-standing relationships with both Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Navy, Concurrent is uniquely positioned to expand on this new product offering as the Navy embarks on plans and retrofits of additional Aegis class ships," said Rob Menzel, vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Real-Time Division.
