Allinea Software Expands Their European Presence By Teaming With German Reseller SMB GmbH

Reseller agreement capitalizes on SMB’s local market strength to boost sales for Allinea’s DDT and OPT parallel computing tools.

Allinea Software has signed an agreement with German reseller SMB GmbH to sell Allinea’s Distributed Debugging Tool (DDT) and Optimization and Profiling Tool (OPT) in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. The agreement took effect in September 2009.

“We’re very pleased to partner with Allinea in order to offer our customers these market-leading tools on Linux, Unix and Windows platforms,” says Dr. Thomas Horn, CEO of SMB. “Allinea’s suite of products has a reputation for being cost-effective, scalable, and easy to deploy, and both DDT and OPT complement many of the other products that we already distribute.”

DDT is recognized as the industry’s most advanced tool for debugging parallel applications, with an easy-to-use graphical interface that dramatically reduces the learning curve for new users, to ensure a rapid ROI. DDT is suitable for C, C++ and Fortran developers, with advanced support for parallel programming paradigms such as Pthreads, OpenMP or MPI on applications that can scale to tens of thousands of processes.

OPT sets the industry standard in performance analysis and the optimization of parallel C, C++, and Fortran applications. Like DDT, OPT is designed to be easy-to-use, yet powerful, with a number of innovative features that aim to guide the developer through the code-optimization process. It also boasts a secure client-server architecture which allows users to study application behaviour on remote supercomputers.

SMB will also sell Allinea’s DDTLite, a plug-in that simplifies parallel code development for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 SP1.

“Although Allinea has an established reputation in Germany, we wanted to team up with a strong local partner to really take our sales to the next level,” says Jacques Philouze, Worldwide VP of Sales and Marketing at Allinea Software. “We’ve always been impressed by SMB’s deep knowledge of the HPC market in Germany and neighbouring countries, as well as the close relationships they have with their customers. We’re glad to have SMB become a part of our family and I have no doubt that this relationship will be very successful for both parties.”

Allinea Software will be an exhibitor at the Supercomputing Conference (SC½09) in Portland, Oregon from November 14-20, 2009.
