Penguin Computing Releases New Scyld Integrated Management Framework
New integrated Web solution from Penguin Computing provides a flexible framework that greatly simplifies the monitoring and management of high-performance computing clusters
Penguin Computing, experts in high performance computing ("HPC") solutions, today announced the immediate availability of the Scyld Integrated Management Framework ("IMF"). Scyld IMF is the first extensible framework for HPC cluster management that provides full visibility and control of all key cluster components from any web enabled device, including smart-phones and PDAs. Scyld IMF's interface is a rich Internet application built on standard JavaScript components and XML. The framework is easily extended to integrate third party or end-user custom management tools, such as those for monitoring the status of Ethernet or Infiniband switches.
HPC clusters consist of many hardware and software elements, such as servers, network fabrics, workload managers and provisioning systems, that all need to work together seamlessly. Scyld IMF integrates disparate tools for managing all cluster components in a single unified view. Scyld IMF also offers functionality for controlling servers, complementing Scyld ClusterWare's ability to self-heal through a simple power-cycle process.
"We have been evaluating the beta release of Scyld IMF and are very excited about what we have seen. What makes Scyld IMF interesting for us is the fact that it aggregates the functionality we need in a single Web interface, but also allows us to easily extend the framework, adding the custom functionality that we need. The fact that this framework is easy to use is particularly important for us as a company where human resources for system management are already spread thin," said John Ristevski, CEO and founder of earthmine Incorporated, a street-level, 3D mapping company that provides software and data as a service.
"Scyld IMF greatly simplifies the management and monitoring of HPC clusters. For users that are new to clustering and are transitioning from managing a single system to managing a cluster, IMF lowers the barrier of entry. Larger deployments will appreciate the fact that IMF can be easily customized to provide a single view of a cluster's status from any device that runs a browser. Scyld IMF extends our leadership in providing the easiest to use cluster management solutions in the market," said Tom Coull, SVP and GM at Penguin Computing.
Scyld IMF and Scyld ClusterWare can be downloaded for a free evaluation. For more information about Penguin's Scyld IMF, please go tohttp://www.penguincomputing.com or call 1-888-PENGUIN (736-4846).
