Infortrend Supports New Intel Solid-State Drive (SSD)
2.5-inch SSDs to Boost Performance While Reducing Power and Space Consumption: Infortrend, the networked storage expert, today announced that its storage systems based on 2.5-inch drives -- EonStor B12F-R1430 and B12F-G1430 -- now support Intel X25-E Extreme SATA solid-state drives (SSDs). By integrating Intel's advanced flash-based technology, Infortrend's B12F subsystems can deliver 10 times faster read IOPS than traditional rotating media to meet stringent performance demands of high end applications with optimized power and space efficiency.
Leveraging the advantages of small form factor (SFF) hard disk drives, Infortrend's B12F Series has been recognized for its power to achieve greater performance in the same footprint with much reduced power
consumption. Infortrend has now upgraded its B12F subsystems by extending the drive options to include Intel's 2.5-inch SATA SSDs featuring outstanding performance and reliability. The spindle-free storage solutions embody the perfect combination of Infortrend's RAID expertise and Intel's chip-making prowess. Only with a little more investment can users enjoy 10 times greater Read and 2 times greater Write performance on the basis of 20% less energy expense. Besides satisfying harsh performance demands with flash drives, the B12F also allows users to meet different service levels and cost efficiency requirements by flexibly scaling with expansion units accommodating 2.5-inch SAS or 3.5-inch SATA drives.
"As datacenter's performance demands are getting tougher, Infortrend sees the opportunity to provide SSD-based storage solutions," said Thomas Kao, product planning director with Infortrend Technology. "Labeled by the trusted name, Intel SSDs deliver optimal balance between performance and cost. Adding them as the drive options for our B12F Series, we are set to help users enhance business competitiveness with greater storage performance and reduced TCO."
"The data center model is changing as companies take advantage of the power and performance of Intel's solid-state drives (SSDs) for transaction-intensive applications," said Pete Hazen, director of marketing for the Intel NAND Solutions Group. "With outstanding performance, reliability and high IOPS-per-watt, this new generation of solid-state drives can meet the toughest service level requirement on the basis of significantly reduced energy and space. This makes Intel SSDs a smart choice for power Tier-1 storage."
