Star-P now Intel Cluster Ready
Star-P lets scientists, analysts and engineers easily create parallel applications using familiar desktop tools, automatically transforming the application to run on high performance computing (HPC) clusters. The Intel Cluster Ready program makes it easier to buy, deploy and build HPC clusters employing Intel multi-core processors. Together, an Intel Cluster Ready version of Star-P enables potentially thousands of new users to now tap into the power of HPCs without the prohibitive cost and programming complexities associated with traditional cluster computing.
By selecting certified Intel Cluster Ready systems and applications like Star-P, companies can be confident that their Intel-based cluster will work as it should out of the box without complex configuration, integration and management. All certified products must meet the Intel Cluster Ready specification, which ensures system interoperability by providing a common basis for building certified clusters and developing registered applications. The program reduces the time, complexity, and risk in selecting a collection of independent components and software.
Star-P delivers interactive parallel computing power to desktop computer users, enabling faster prototyping and problem solving across a range of security, intelligence, manufacturing, energy, biomedical, financial and scientific research applications. It allows them to code algorithms and models on their desktops using familiar mathematical tools - such as MATLAB and Python - and then run them instantly and interactively on HPCs with little to no modification. Star-P eliminates the need to re-program applications to run on parallel systems, making problem-solving faster and users more productive.
“With Star-P registered compatible with Intel Cluster Ready, Interactive Supercomputing customers can now experience the performance of Intel Xeon processors and the simplicity, interoperability, and productivity of validated, ready-to-run hardware/software solutions,” said Bill Magro, director, High Performance Computing Solutions, Intel Corporation’s Software and Service Group.
